Hong Kong Local Artists / Designers Recruitment
EXPERIENCE 11 is a Hong Kong–based ACG (Anime, Comic, Gaming) IP venture under K11 by AC, leveraging top ACG IPs from Japan, Korea, and China to curate immersive “real life, real touch” experiences and products that deliver emotional value to fans. We sincerely invite local Hong Kong creative talents to participate in a whimsical collaboration! We are launching a large-scale touring exhibition and pop-up project across Hong Kong, China and Asia. We are currently seeking Hong Kong local artists, designers and creative talents with unique perspectives and innovative thinking to reinterpret and expand upon a globally renowned IP. This is a solid platform to showcase your creativity to a cross-regional audience and engage in a dialogue with an internationally recognized IP.
The IP of this project will be kept confidential at this stage. Applicants are required to explore ideas and submit a proposal based on the “Curatorial Direction” and “Evaluation Criteria” provided in this document. We expect you to demonstrate outstanding creative tension and design logic even without knowing the specific character.

I. Core Proposal Directions
This open call is divided into two main creative directions. Applicants may choose to submit a proposal for a single direction or both:
Direction A: 2D Graphic Illustration — Reimagining and Reinterpretation
This direction focuses on the transformation of visual arts. Applicants need to propose a 2D visual project that “reimagines or reinterprets” a classic cartoon character. We encourage creative talents to inject their strong personal artistic style and break the established framework of traditional cartoon characters.
- Required Submissions: Concept statement, visual style reference (Moodboard), and at least 3 original design sketches or conceptual mockups.
- Suggested Dimensions and Formats: Suitable for cards, posters, large display boards (e.g., 2m x 2m), and standard vector proportional designs applicable to merchandise.
- Design Focus: How to fuse Hong Kong’s local elements or subculture styles to create a visually striking new look, while retaining the basic outline or core characteristics of the “cartoon character”.
- Evaluation Criteria: Visual originality (40%), strength and recognizability of style (30%), commercial application and exhibition scalability (30%).
Direction B: Interactive Game Design — Supporting Pop-up Experience
This direction aims to design an interactive game or experiential installation for the touring Pop-up Store, aiming to enhance audience engagement and dwell time on-site.
- Required Submissions: Gameplay instructions, user journey, spatial layout sketches for the venue, and explanation of interactive mechanics.
- Suggested Game Formats: Not limited to physical mechanical interactions, Augmented Reality (AR), mobile H5 light games, or puzzle games combined with physical props. The game format has to be applicable in a pop-up space of 4,000 sq ft.
- Design Focus: The mechanism must be highly interactive and flexible enough to be assembled, disassembled, and executed in different Pop-up spaces across various cities in China, HK or other Asia cities. The game concept should naturally integrate into any cartoon IP or brand experience, bringing joy and a sense of surprise.
- Evaluation Criteria: On-site execution feasibility and safety (35%), interactive fun and audience engagement (35%), integration with spatial experience (30%)

II. Eligibility and General Requirements
- Applicant Eligibility: Must be a local artist, designer, or creative professional who frequently resides and works in Hong Kong.
- Participation Format: Applications as individuals or teams are both welcome.
- Declaration of Originality: All proposed content must be original and never published in other commercial projects.
- Execution Feasibility: The design must consider the technical feasibility of actual production, transportation, and cross-regional touring (Xiamen, Hong Kong, Taiwan).
- Commercial Considerations: The design should have mass appeal, balancing artistic value with commercial display potential.
III. Suggested Submission Contents
To help the judging panel fully understand your creative intentions, the proposal document (PDF format, not exceeding 10 pages) is suggested to include the following items:
- Concept Statement: Articulate your creative concept and source of inspiration.
- Moodboard: Color schemes, material suggestions, and style setting.
- Sketches or Mockups: Concrete visual previews of the 2D graphic design or interactive game.
- Production Methods and Material Suggestions: Technical explanations for the physical exhibition parts.
- Expected Timeline and Budget Range: Preliminary development cycle and production cost estimation.
- Portfolio: Showcase your past relevant artistic or commercial collaboration cases.

IV. Traits We Look For in Proposals
When evaluating numerous proposals, we particularly value the following traits:
- Distinctive Creativity: Having the courage to break the mold and avoid clichés.
- Local Cultural Perspective: Ability to cleverly translate Hong Kong’s unique urban context or cultural symbols into an international vocabulary.
- Mass Communicability: The design possesses “check-in” (Instagrammable) potential, suitable for generating buzz on social media.
- High Adaptability: Ability to propose a systematic design logic that is flexible and can be applied to specific characters at any time, even without revealing the full picture of the IP.
V. Schedule and Submission Method
This is a rare opportunity for Hong Kong’s creative energy to shine across multiple cities in Asia. Whether you are an illustrator, visual designer, or interactive media artist, we highly look forward to seeing your brilliant proposals!
- Submission Deadline: 19 June 2026
- Submission Method: Please send your proposal PDF file to the designated official email address: opencall@experience11.com. Please state “[Cross-City IP Project Proposal] – Name/Team Name” in the email subject.
The jury panel comprises EXPERIENCE 11 management from creative, commercial, and operational backgrounds—applicants should address all three perspectives in their submissions.
We look forward to your participation in co-creating a cross-disciplinary art experience full of surprises!
